Is it fish or fishes…
I have found fish to be an excellent subject for exploring a simpler side of origami. They’re also ideal for combining into large vignettes, or shoals. Each shoal is staged on backgrounds pulling themes from waves and abandoned ships and framed in simple white frames giving them a timeless look.
Paper Scales
As much as each shoal is about being better than the sum of its parts, they are also a showcase of paper. Often several different complementary papers are combined both to show a depth of range but also to make each fish stand out individually.
