Assyrian Bowl

$130.00

Assyrian pottery, spanning a massive 2000 year period (BC), hosted a characteristic set of pottery known for carinated shapes sculpted from ceramics and metals. While this bowl takes after some of those characteristics, it is also a form that has evolved over the course of my own turning, experimenting with wood species and adjusting proportions to best capture a timeless shape.

Height: 4.5”
Diameter: 8.5”

The timber this vessel is crafted from is ethically sourced and selected from Spokane, WA. Turned and carved from Honey Locust wood and treated with a combination of iodine pigmentation, iron acetate, and fire before being finished with Tried & True varnish oil. Stitched with waxed cotton thread.
