Cauldron IV
Cauldrons are woodturned bowls and vessels possessing handles that are hand hewn into the same piece of wood as the form itself. Each Cauldron is shaped and finished to best emphasize the chosen wood species and highlight the versatility and beauty of the wood. Cauldron IV is turned from Black Locust wood and is finished with fire (Yakigsugi). This technique adds an incredible amount of texture to the already exaggerated grain of Black Locust. This Cauldron is also stitched with waxed cotton thread to reinforce naturally occurring cracks in the wood. It is finished in a food-safe hardwax oil.
