Skyphos Cup
As a brewer, historic drinking vessels have recently piqued my interest. The Skyphos cup takes after an ancient Grecian form of the same name, present largely at symposia and other gatherings and used for consumption of wine. This interpretation of the form leans into soft, convex curves contrasted by large angled handles and plentiful stitch work.
Height: 5”
Diameter: 6”
Diameter with handles: 8.5”
The timber this vessel is crafted from is ethically sourced and selected from Spokane, WA. Turned and carved from Big Leaf Maple wood and treated with a combination of iodine pigmentation, iron acetate, and fire before being finished with Tried & True varnish oil. Stitched with waxed cotton thread.
